Description:
Seniority councils serve as advisory and opinion-making bodies, and are one of the functioning methods to engage the elderly in decision-making processes in local government units. In Poland there are approximately 100 seniority councils – not many considering there are over 2 000 local communities in Poland. In this session you will find out about the role of seniority councils, the way they function, how they are established, and what the fields of their activity are. During the workshop you will ponder how to engage seniority councils in social consultation and other fields of social participation.
