Time: Day 1 (June 2., Thursday), hrs: 12:30-14:30

Format: a block of speeches

Description:

Taking care of a public space should begin with you and your neighbor engaging in micro-scale activities. An introductory activity could be planting flowers in the neighborhood or designing a garden under a local initiative. After this introductory task has been completed, we can move onto the next level of engagement: developing a communal square in the neighborhood under a specific investment project. By enlarging the scope of our community activities, it guarantees the start of discussions regarding the entire district. This is because the existing community enchantment budget does not deal with district-wide enhancements, only micro-scale initiatives. The highest level of engagement deals with a district-wide public space enhancement campaign. We must gain knowledge of the urban plan to understand the rules of our city and how to best impact our whole community.

During moderated discussions we shall shortly present each of the engagement levels that enable participation in creating our surrounding space and caring for that space.

– First level of engagement – DIY – social gardens

– Second level of engagement- A reconstruction project – backyards on the premises of Gołonogi estate  in Dąbrowa Górnicza

– Third level of engagement – District Projects – Gdansk and the Project: “Quo vadis, Gdansk?”

– Fourth level of engagement – Spatial planning for cities and villages – the Odblokuj Project, CKS in Warsaw and Rural Development Foundation
