Moderators:

Maria Makowska, School for Leaders Foundation,
Agata Urbanik, The Field of Dialogue Foundation

Time:  2. Day (Friday, May 29.), hrs 10:45-12:15

Location: III floor, zone E

Format:  training session

Local diagnosis is a process of getting to know the environment in which we act, work and live by asking questions and seeking answers with use of the social science methodologies. It is an important tool for participation practitioners because it enables gathering new knowledge, gaining new perspectives on a given subject and thus leading to rejection of the widespread assumptions and schemes. The new perspective could allow better planning activities according to the needs of their beneficiaries. During the session we will demonstrate why it is important to deploy local diagnosis into participatory processes and will talk about in what aspects, apart from new knowledge, it could be beneficial.

We will use this session to provide a concise example of how local diagnosis could be planned and carried out and what scientific techniques are to be used. We shall encourage the attendees to come up with their own ideas for local diagnosis.

The session is dedicated for those who are eager to find out how to conduct local diagnosis in order to get to know their own environment even better. Also all the experienced participants are welcome to share their experience.
