Is it feasible to create public policies with support of citizens?
Moderators:
Oktawiusz Chrzanowski, The Foundation for Social and Economic Initiatives,
Przemysław Dziewitek, Civic Lab Association
Time: 1. Day (Thursday, May 28.), hrs.15:45-17:45
Location: II floor, zone J
Format: experience sharing
During the session we will have a closer look at two cases of engaging citizens in creating public policies. First we will study the example of Cracow and the attempt to socialize the work on the city development strategy. Then, along with Iwona Chrapkowska from the City of Slupsk Office, we will focus on the ongoing plan of engaging the citizens of Slupsk to shape the development strategy.
Why city development strategies? Because this matter is one of the most complicated and always up-to-date issues across public policies. They could and should relate to and be synchronized with other thematic plans, programmes and developments visions (e.g. on revitalization, education, culture). What is the effective way of engaging citizens in the work on this complicated issue? What should not be omitted?
We expect that this session will be dedicated to ideas and experience exchange with regards to the above cases. We encourage you to share your thoughts on the matters of collaboration with citizens (generally social parties) in creation of assumptions and instruments for the development of local communities.
